Removing rust stains

If a spot of rust appears on cotton or linen fabric, you are lucky.

Worse, if it is on wool or silk. Its removal is not easy. If the stain is fresh, you can soak it with lemon juice or with a 10% solution of citric acid. The treatment should be repeated several times and then you can rinse the stain with water. Older rust stains are difficult to remove. Pour a hot, 5% oxalic acid solution on them and rinse them with warm water with the addition of ammonia. Repeat this several times until the stain disappears. After the treatment, wash the material.
